M.A.S.K. - Music and Stage for Kids, a non-profit organisation sponsored by Condor Technology and Mercury, is giving budding actors and singers aged from eight to 18 the chance to audition for a December production of the popular musical Oliver. Auditions are open to all and will begin with an acting and singing workshop to familiarise participants with the roles. Adult lead roles will be auditioned today and tomorrow from 7.30pm. The second concert of Music of the Masters Concert Series will take place at the Shaikh Isa bin Salman Cultural Hall at the Alumni Club in Adliya from 7.30pm. It will feature Iraqi oud virtuoso Saad Mahmood Jawad who will be accompanied by percussionist Majid Ebrahim. Saad Mahmood Jawad has been named 'Best Oud player in Iraq' in 2000 and 'The Knight of The Oud' in 2001 by the Iraqi Cultural Council and currently teaches oud at the Bahrain Music Institute.

The Centrepoint Desert Symphony will be held at the Indian School grounds featuring well-known Indian artists including singers Hariharan, Sujatha Mohan, Shwetha Mohan and Anwar Sadath alongside a 15-member professional orchestra from India. Al Riwaq Art and Culture Centre in cooperation with First Bahrain Real Estate Development Company are hosting the Al Riwaq Street Art 2009 event. Under the auspices of the Mental Games Federation, the Bahrain Chess Club is organising the club's second tournament, Chess BABK Championship, from today until October 15 at the Hisham Al-Shihabi Hall, Bahrain Society of Engineers, Juffair.
