Breadtalk, Bahrain's first boutique bakery, now offers all food enthusiasts a taste of their designer delights with their new home delivery service.
Franchised by Pan Arabian Gourmet, the innovative outlet has revolutionised bread-making in the gulf, offering a variety of cakes and pastries to tantalise your taste buds until the very last bite.
BreadTalk, which originated in Singapore nine years ago, turned the idea of baking into an art- form, in which every piece has its own personality.
Currently there are more than 400 outlets worldwide in 14 countries such as Indonesia, Hong Kong, Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, India, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain. Their goal is to open 1000 outlets by 2013.
GulfWeekly was greeted by Vinod Kumar, the chief operating officer of Pan Arabian Gourmet to get a better understanding of Breadtalk's concept and to sink our teeth into the fluffy fresh goodies.
Mr Kumar said: "We opened in Park Plaza in the Diplomatic area back in March and have already created a phenomenal customer base. We are now known as a destination in the kingdom and are honoured by that.
"Normally we open in malls in the lifestyle section because that is what we are- a lifestyle and brand not just bread.
"When we started we figured we would receive a morning crowd and afternoon office workers. On the contrary, we found that we are favoured by families that will go out of their way to have our fresh bread especially after 6pm.
"We have already started a delivery service hitting areas like exhibition road, Seef, Manama and Juffair. By the second week of November we will be fully-fledged, delivering to all of Bahrain.
"We are also opening another Breadtalk in Riffa Views first week of November and by early January we will open in City Centre.
"We also has plans to open in Saudi Arabia by the first quarter of next year."
Mr Kumar added: "We want our clientele to know and see where the bread is coming from so that they rest assure of its freshness. We bake with passion and love and have a great ambience.
"We have new bread being made twice or three times a day and we don't carry forward any stock. We don't throw our bread away either. Breadtalk donates all its products to various charities.
While Breadtalk has many signature treats such as the floss, curry dozo and squabble bubble, the gift box, a box filled with mini bites known as the ruby collection, was created specifically for the Middle East and is a hot seller in Bahrain.
Cake and pastry chef, Jomer Lazundin, 32, from Gufool said: "When we bake, we bake from our hearts and that shows in the finished product.
GulfWeekly reporter, Mai- Al- Khatib, said: "Being a first-timer at the outlet I was in awe of the display, crisp interior and friendly service."
