Situated in the heart of Manama adjacent to Bab Al Bahrain is cozy and comfortable Charcoal Grill.
The restaurant offers Indian, Chinese, Arabic and Continental cuisine for office-goers looking to grab a quick bite during lunch as well as diners who wish to enjoy a quite meal after a trip around the souq.
The outlet's special offers are its executive lunches, which are served daily from 11am to 3pm as well as the whole sale menu where diners can buy dishes on weight.
Adding the essence to its flavours is Indian chef Bhagat Singh Rawat who has been with the establishment for the past 19 years.
Chef Bhagat, 45, most well-known for his curries, hails from Nainital in India and has been working from the age of 10.
Prior to moving to Bahrain, he worked for three years in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
He collected much of his experience working with various hotels and restaurants in India and hopes to return home in the future and begin his own outlet.
Chef Bhagat said: "My children are growing up in Delhi and I plan to go back and hopefully open a dhaba-style outlet (popular road-side restaurants) in my hometown."
Of all his rich experience, the most vivid memory he has about his career was just a year after his arrival to the island when Sheikh Rashid had visited Lanterns, the mother-company, where he was stationed at the time.
Chef Bhagat said: "He complimented me on the puri chana that I had prepared that day and that was quite special."
While preparing a meal, he explains that the most vital ingredients include the garam masala (a blend of ground spices) and ratan jog (colouring bark-like condiment).
