Al Rashid Group this week officially launched its third Carpisa outlet – an Italian brand with over 600 stores world-wide that specialises in handbags, leather goods and fashion accessories – at City Centre Bahrain.

With summer vacations around the corner many expats will soon be jet-setting to beaches and lake houses or back to their home countries to holiday with the in-laws.

With this comes a demand for all sorts of luggage and tote bags in order to carry all the essentials like sunglasses, books and sun-block for the children.

At Carpisa, I spotted some trendy, colourful beach bags starting as low as BD9. My favourites were the retro straw-weave beach totes in green, cobalt-blue and black also selling for BD9.

They were made of plastic and ribbon braided together and could be matched with casual and sporty outfits. Not only are they modern but could easily be wiped clean of wet sand, smashed snacks and leaky liquids.

The ‘basket’ handbags were made of woven plastic at BD10 and came with fun removable decorative flowers. You can match a straw hat and a colour-contrast ribbon in your hair for a romantic sun-set stroll.

For BD15, a range of palm-tree graphic print cloth bags in draw-string or classic tote sizes were available.

They came in white and blue and were printed with contrasting colours that could easily fit a towel and swim suit for that dash to the beach.
