The Bahrain Hockey Association is hosting a memorial event on July 24 to honour the contributions made to the sport in the kingdom by two men.
The Tahir Mir Hockey Memorial Cup 2015 will take place at The Football Academy, Saar, from 6pm-9pm and will commemorate the lives of ex-committee member Tahir Mohammed Mir and ex-Pakistan Club Bahrain player Imran ‘Pachi’ Reza who both passed away last year.
The competition is open to adults and will be played in a seven-a-side format. The tournament will feature a maximum of six teams, open to Bahrain hockey teams and players only.
The hockey fixtures will be followed by Bahrain’s first penalty shoot-out competition, which will be played according to international field hockey regulations.
A fund-raising drive to promote hockey is also being organised by the BHA through a summer sale of Bahrain Hockey sticks and T-shirts.
Teams can register and confirm their participation by calling 39658618 or emailing bahrainhockeyassocn@gmail.com - the registration fee is BD20 per team and the entries must be submitted by Friday.
