Your ‘go to’ club

I often see amateurs struggling with their driver early on in a round and yet try to keep playing with the same club through the entire round.

On longer holes many golfers feel obliged to hit a driver to achieve the most distance, but this can sometimes mean they just head further into trouble!

If the big stick isn’t working early on, switch to a shorter wood, say a 3 or 5 wood where your chances of hitting it straighter and keeping the ball in play can increase.

If you would like to book a golf lesson with a Royal Golf Club PGA teaching professional, call 17750777.

The Royal Golf Club’s teaching pros have come up with three offers this month for golfers wishing to improve their game:

  • A two-hour session on the course discovering how to play from tricky lies. Price: BD59 per person inclusive of equipment and refreshments. A second person can join for an extra BD30.
  • An hour-long one-to-one session with a PGA instructor incorporating the latest FlightScope technology to highlight areas of improvement. Price: BD30.
  • Are your clubs the correct angle for you? Let the Professionals measure and adjust your clubs ready for the season! BD10 for a full set, buy six grips or more and get one free.
