The Cat Society of Bahrain & Pet Animals (CSBPA), under the guardianship of the Dogfather, will host its first Festive Fundraiser on December 9 at the BAPCO Club Terrace, Awali. A Zumbanin class will be held today from 9am - 9pm at Al Bander Hotel and Resort to raise funds for children with cancer. The class features 12 hours of Zuba and spinning. The Bahrain Triathlon Challenge will host the Olympic Triathlon on December 12 featuring a Half Ironman Triathlon featuring a 1.9km swim, 90km bike and 21.1km run, a Sprint Triathlon featuring 750m swim, 20km bike and 5km run, Try-a-Tri featuring a 300m swim, 10km bike and 3km run and a 5km walkathon. A photographic exploration of Muharraq at the turn of the 21st Century will be held from December 11 to 24 at the Bin Matar House in Muharraq. It is the outcome of a two-month long photography workshop organised by the Shaikh Ebrahim Centre and presents the individual projects of 10 photographers from Bahrain and the region including Anasuya Kesavan, Asma Jassim Murad, Deborah Allen, Eman Ali, Ghassan Chemali, Haya Isa Al Khalifa, Malek Nass, Mark Anthony Sarmiento, Marwa Rashid Al Khalifa and Rasha Yousif. Bahrain’s top player Jaffer Ibrahim will lead a host of local stars when the Indian Club-GCC Open Badminton Tournament gets underway on December 28. More than 100 players from Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar and Bahrain are expected to participate in the three-day event, which is being organised by the club in association with the Bahrain Badminton and Squash Federation (BBSF).

The event will feature competition in seven categories – men’s singles, men’s doubles, mixed doubles, veterans doubles, under-19 boys singles, under-19 boys doubles and under-19 girls doubles – and is open to all GCC residents. Entry forms are available at the Indian Club reception.
