THE Arsenal Soccer School Bahrain Ladies League kicked off its fifth season in style on Monday with a record nine teams fighting for the coveted GulfWeekly Premiership Trophy.
The eight-a-side tournament is being staged at Soccer City in Janabiya every Monday and Thursday.

Deena Rahman, senior coach and Bahrain national team player, said: “We are delighted to be heading into a new season of the ladies league with a record nine teams. We’d also like to welcome back all those teams that have competed in the league at some point before. We look forward to some exciting matches and strong competition.”

The squads competing in the latest nine-week contest are Arsenal Red, Arsenal Yellow, Arsenal Junior Gunners (formerly Arsenal Yellow, last year’s league champions), Eastern Flames, Venus, Joga TFA (formerly known as Joga Bonito), Desert Divas, RCSI and the U16 Bahrain National Team.

On Monday evening Arsenal Yellow played Venus, the U16 Bahrain team took on Saudi Arabia-based Eastern Flames and Arsenal Red went up against Desert Divas.
