The pairing of Mohamed Al Sayed and Ian McKie fired an impressive 20 points to claim top spot in this week’s Nandos Monday Madness Night Golf Series at the Royal Golf Club (RGC).
The winning duo attributed their win to their impressive putting, recording no less than seven one-putt greens. The win takes the pair to the top of the series’ order of merit with only two more matches left to play.
The duo of Paul Carpenter and Mureed Nusseir came a very close second after another strong performance, resulting in 19 points while third place went to Wayne Giles and playing partner Steve Middleton who finished on 17 points.
The 9-hole competition was played on the club’s Montgomerie championship course in the ‘Rainbow Challenge’ format which saw competitors teeing off from three different tee boxes throughout the nine holes.
RGC’s golf operations manager Cormac Flannery presented the prizes.

Meanwhile, Al Sayed also clinched victory in the DHL Order of Merit Series July competition.
Conditions were extremely tough with high winds and rising sand and Al Sayed was the only player in the field to break 80.
His total of 78 gave him the best gross while Charles Lyon took second place with a round of 81 and Richard Whitby was third with 87.
In the men’s nett division, Pete Donkin narrowly won first place on countback when he tied with Paul Talwar on 78 nett. Dave Martin was third with a nett score of 82.
