Big-hitting Aussie Matt Doyle fired an impressive 73 nett in blustery conditions to claim the August competition of the Euro Motors BMW Medal at the Royal Golf Club as his Aussie teammates shone in the other divisions.
Doyle said his putting was the main reason for his two-shot win over Ritchie Whitby who took the runners-up spot.
In the second division, a stunning two under par nett 70 gave Doyle’s fellow countryman Murray Brown top spot while Peter Donkin came second with a nett score of 73.
Amazingly, the third division title went to another man from Down Under as Paul Guinane completed an Aussie triple triumph after his countback win over Debbie Lane when both tied on nett 78.
“Congratulations to all three category winners,” said Cormac Flannery, the Royal Golf Club’s golf operations manager. “I bet they’d like to see their cricket team pull off a similar feat! With only three qualifying events left in this popular series, the pressure is on for our members to win their place in the end of year Euro Motors finale.”
