Gulf Weekly Cookies and cakes for festive period

The Gulf Hotel’s Christmas preparations are in full festive swing with executive pastry chef Nady Mounier baking an assortment of tasty cookies and cakes to indulge in this holiday season.

Since the launch of Café Delices in 2012, it has been known to serve up freshly baked cookies, macaroons, chocolates and even healthy, light lunches. However, over time the café, located at the Shopping Arcade on the ground floor of the Gulf Executive Residence, has proven to be more than just a perfect place for a coffee break.

According to chef Nady, the holiday season is one of their busiest times of the year, with people flocking into the cosy eatery to pick up a variety of desserts to ring in Christmas celebrations.

The 36-year-old Egyptian baker said: “The festive period brings alive the spirit of Christmas and what better way to celebrate it than with some authentic delights. We are seeing a lot of orders being placed for our traditional Christmas items such as yule logs, Christmas cakes and the German fruit bread called Stollen.

“There is also a trend this time around with corporate companies buying vouchers for their employees to pick up Christmas cakes from the café.”

Other desserts on demand include gingerbread houses, Christmas cookies and Italian sweet breads called Pandoro and Panettone.

The café is open daily from 7am to 11pm.
