The Assistant Undersecretary of Legal Affairs of the Interior Ministry announced on Sunday that in relation to the statement released by the Ministry on January 2, several rioters and vandals have been detained along with a small number of people who misused social media for illegal purposes.

The Assistant Undersecretary said the parents of several minors were also summoned, in accordance to Article 19 of Law 23 of 2013 to amend the provisions of Decree Law 17 of 1976 on juveniles that states: “Imprisonment, fine or both is the penalty for the legal guardian of the juvenile who was warned but neglected the supervision of the minor such that the juvenile repeated the delinquency.”

In addition, Article 20 that states, “Imprisonment of not less than a year and not more than BD1000 fine or both will be given to the person who was given care of the juvenile but neglected his duties which led to the juvenile committing a crime or delinquency.”

The Assistance Undersecretary reiterated that parents have a responsibility to protect their children from incitement by supervising their behaviour and preventing them from engaging in illegal activity.

Say the truth - are you really happy about year 2015? Not sure? It is OK, regardless of your reply, you cannot change what happened, and it is already history.

Why don’t you think about doing something different in the year 2016? The years are just calendar days, nothing different, but it’s how you utilise them that make sense.

Maybe you cannot change your spouse, your job, or even your flat, but there is surely something you can do ̶ smile. I mean a real and genuine one, not a plastic smile! I know you’re thinking it’s so easy to say it as I am just the writer and a dreamer, but mind you, this is the reality. Or maybe you will say how can I smile with all the suffering that I am facing in my life every now and then? Are you kidding me?

Do you know that majority of the people spend their time living in the past, reflecting ‘Why this happened?’ ‘Why me?’ ‘Why now?’ Why? Why? Why? Looking for answers, but even if they get answers, what do they change? Nothing! What happened is over.

‘Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, and today is a gift that’s why it’s called PRESENT’. Make your present a moment to be conscious about and just smile!

When you live in trust, believing that everything happens for a reason and there is a hidden meaning beyond, that deep meaning that you may not understand right now, you will not react negatively and will have the power to move forward in your life with happiness, trusting that what you’re going to face in 2016 will be surely for your best.

Morag

Love or loathe them, the tradition of making New Year’s resolutions has been around for 4,000 years, we can blame the Babylonians! In recent years, I have vowed not to make any New Year’s resolutions, possibly to avoid breaking them!

Then at the stroke of midnight I always cave in – so straight away I have broken my resolution to NOT make any New Year’s resolutions, I may be doomed!

Loudly and confidently I rattle off a list inspired by several glasses of Prossecco and keenly witnessed by friends and family… yikes! The husband can be spotted rolling those eyes of his, that he rolls so well when I’m commanding the attention of all and sundry in the room. This, of course, only raises my determination level to keep this year’s resolutions!

My history of breaking resolutions forces myself to escape from the usual mould, so I will not be promising to lose weight, exercise more or abstain from alcohol. Instantly, my odds on keeping resolutions this year are in my favour!

Firstly, I must confess my guilty pleasure for years now has been following the Daily Mail online; news, scandal, celebrity gossip – it has consumed too many hours of my time and the App has now been deleted from my phone!

I don’t need to know which Kardashian is transitioning next or which Premier League footballer was spotted leaving a nightclub with a different WAG! The initial withdrawals were bad but I’m taking it one day at a time.

Secondly, I vow to allow myself to only log in to Facebook once a day! Notifications are piling up and friendship requests are waiting but no longer will I be a slave to Mark Zuckerberg.

Lastly, I am going to read more and rediscover my love of books. No longer will I have my nose in the Daily Mail or in my FB page but in a book! Surely, the wasted hours spent frivolously online last year can be redirected into working my way through my expanding ‘must read list’.

Have you made your New Year’s resolutions?

Twelve-hour resolutions

Its 2016! It seems that everyone is excited for the New Year, whilst still reminiscing over everything that went well and not so well back in 2015.

Many people use the new year as an excuse for change in their lives, which I think is great, but you really need to commit to something you’ve set as your goal.

It is estimated that in the UK gym users increase by almost half of the usual amount on January 1 because so many people have said that they ‘want to lose weight’. Ironically, by January 2 the gym usage goes back down to its usual average.

What does that tell you? We become too accustomed to our lifestyle and are too scared to change it. I wish I spent less time on my phone. Don’t we all?

Personally, I feel that in order to make real change to oneself you need to want it, do something that you know will make you and others happy.

Have the occasional big bar of chocolate as long as you are happy because in the end that’s all that matters. And if you want change, don’t wait until New Year’s Eve, because the sooner the better.

I can’t wait for this year! Happy 2k16!

Whisperer

Late one evening, a couple of caring pet owners, friends of the Whisperer, heard the distant cries of puppies from outside their home. At first they thought they were hearing things and ignored it. After hearing another loud whine, they rushed out in search of the poor puppies that were probably cold and scared; leaving their own sweet dogs in the warm house.

As the puppy cries turned out to be a false alarm, the couple returned home. Their dogs, who were pretty miffed for not being taken along for the ride, had decided to teach the couple a lesson. They destroyed a pair of the hubby’s slippers and made a bald patch in the living room rug.

It was a clear message to the Whisperer’s friends.
