Steven Hill won the seventh round of the Audi quattro Cup qualifying series at the Royal Golf Club (RGC) with an excellent stableford score of 38 points.
There was a three-way tie for second place where Sanjay Lal clinched the runners-up spot with 37 points from Ali Al Hakam and Arnaud Robert after a countback.
Keith Watson won the nearest the pin side contest on hole 7 and the 2s club winners were Steven Hill, Naeem Khan and Ronan Armstrong. Steven’s 2 was particularly memorable as it came on the first hole by way of holing his second shot for eagle.
More than 55 competitors turned out for the penultimate round of the tournament which was open to both members and visitors with valid handicap certificates. The overall standings sees Hill and Robert strengthen their position as the top two with 261 and 257 points. In third place is Rob Lane on 247 points with some work to do in the final round to catch the leading pair.
Competitors now move onto the final round, which will be held at the RGC on April 15. The top two order of merit winners will going on to represent Bahrain as one of the 60 teams competing in the World Finals.
With more than 100,000 players competing in more than 800 tournaments in 54 countries annually, the Audi quattro Cup has developed into the biggest worldwide amateur golf tournament series.
