Cup climax

Serwin Rampersad continued a winning streak by taking the Cup Winners Cup and Hendrik Wessels won the Consolation Cup in Awali Golf Club’s season-ending climax in the early summer heat.

The two competitions were played on Friday simultaneously. Players who have not won a competition during the season were eligible for the Consolation Cup and previous winners played for the Cup Winners Cup.

Rampersad, who only gained his first golfing handicap of 27 just a year ago posted a superb net 61 to win the Cup Winners Cup.

Wessels, with his winning net score of 65, was followed by Martin Allison in second place with 67. Sultan Ahmed claimed third also with 67 (lost on countback), Mark Hodgkinson and Ali Musbah came in fifth and sixth both with 68.

Tournament director was Kerry Diaper. Club captain Bill Scarth thanked all members, staff and sponsors for their contributions towards an excellent season of golf.
