Gulf Weekly Your chance to meet Mr Wright

One lucky football-loving young reader will meet up with former Arsenal, Crystal Palace and England star Ian Wright on Friday … if he or she asks the right question!

The striker is visiting members of Tekkers Academy and Arsenal Soccer School Bahrain on Friday afternoon at the RCSI indoor sports facility in Busaiteen before attending a speaking engagement in the evening.

Organisers have one space left in the closed session for a youngster aged between 10-15 years and all you have to do to get your name on the door is suggest a suitable question to ask the ace striker.

Wright, MBE, 53, is now a popular TV and radio personality. He enjoyed success with London clubs Crystal Palace and Arsenal, spending six years with the former and seven years with the latter. With Arsenal he lifted the Premier League title, both major domestic trophies and the European Cup Winners Cup.

He played 581 league games, scoring 387 goals for seven clubs in Scotland and England, earning 33 caps for the English national team. He also played in the Premier League for West Ham United, the Scottish Premier League with Celtic and the Football League at Burnley and Nottingham Forest.

His sons, Bradley and Shaun Wright-Phillips, both became professional footballers and are now plying their trade in the US with New York Red Bulls.

The Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel, Residence & Spa will host an evening on Friday night, where Wright Snr will share stories from his colourful football career.

But if you would like to win the chance of meeting him in the afternoon for a chat and a photo session, email editor@gulfweekly.com by tomorrow at 10am with the question you would like to ask him.

Dear Ian, .......................................... The winner must be accompanied by an adult to the event. Normal GulfWeekly rules apply. The Editor’s decision is final.
