A new exhibition has opened at the Bahrain National Museum, celebrating the strong civil and military aviation heritage between Bahrain and the United Kingdom.

The centrepiece of the exhibition is an iconic Supermarine Spitfire, which first flew 80 years ago. The exhibition runs until October 23.

Saturday (June 4)
Five local qualifiers of the Neymar Jr’s Five global contest will be held in Bahrain from today. The first qualifier takes place at Riyadat Mall, followed by Sitra Mall on Sunday, Al Fateh Beach on Monday, Winner’s Football Club on Tuesday and Amwaj Marina on June 8.

Brazil and Barcelona star, Neymar Jr, is giving thousands of young football players the chance to step up their game by staging a unique knockout tournament. The striker is inviting players aged between 16 and 25 in more than 35 countries, across six continents, to team up for his five-a-side tournament.

The local qualifying process will be followed by a final Bahrain showdown on June 10 at Al Nujoom Club, allowing a national champion to advance to the finals in July in Praia Grande, where Neymar Jr grew up, started his professional career, and recently founded his own football institute.

There will be a ‘Bahrain For All Kids Fun Day Out’ from 11.30am-3.30pm at Seef Mall Muharraq, where 100 children with special needs will participate in games and interactive activities.

The event’s highlights will be a storytelling session by actress Um Hilal and a Skype talk by Mayor Frank Letch of Credition in Devon who will talk about the acceptance of disabilities in society and how to deal with prejudice and misinformation.

There will also be a guest appearance by Bahraini musicians Flippercahi and DJ Outlaw.

Sunday (June 5)
The British School of Bahrain’s annual art exhibition will take place at the school’s campus in Hamala between 3pm-5pm and it will be open until June 9.

Tuesday (June 6)
The St Christopher’s School GCSE and A Level Art Exhibition will be open to the public by prior appointment until June 8. The exhibition is diverse in terms of media, genre and concepts.
