Mercedes-Benz this week unveiled its latest E-Class collection at Al Haddad Motors showroom in Tubli, offering VIPs, members of the media and invited guests a glimpse of the new stylish, sleek design and advanced technological features, writes Mai Al Khatib-Camille.
The 2017 E-200 four-door beauty has been deemed a ‘Masterpiece of Intelligence’ by the luxury German brand for being the most intelligent executive sedan and the dealer’s passenger car sales manager, Bryan Logue, is confident it will be well-received in the Bahraini market.
Mr Logue said: “The new E-Class is the 10th generation E-Class and it’s basically a masterpiece of technology and intelligence. I believe it will fare out fantastically in Bahrain. Cosmetically it looks fantastic as well as its form and function. “I think the people of Bahrain, once they really understand what the car is capable of doing and what it stands for, will take it to their hearts.”
One of the sporty sedans on display at the launch on Sunday had already been snapped up by 28-year-old Bahraini Hassan Khalid Al Manaseer days before the unveiling. The devoted Mercedes-Benz owner from Hamad Town had given permission to feature it and even paid his new ride a visit during the event.
Mr Al Manaseer, a Ministry of Interior employee, said: “I visited the showroom three months ago and asked about the new E-Class when I first heard about it. A helpful sales lady told me it was going to be launched in June and sure enough I was back to check it out. “Honestly, I was torn between purchasing the new E-Class or a competitor’s recent release. After seeing the Mercedes-Benz in all its beauty, it definitely won me over. “It’s beautiful and so full of technology and being a previous owner of countless Mercedes-Benz cars, I knew it would be a quality ride too. This will be my fourth E-Class. I can’t wait to drive it out in the next couple of days and I’m extremely excited.”
Highlights include a range of hi-tech assists covering braking and blind spot alert systems, plus plenty of new innovations.
Mr Logue added: “The vehicle has advanced so much in technology that we are seeing new features like Park Pilot which is a fully autonomous parking pilot system. Basically, there is no engagement from the driver at all. All you have to do is select which parking space you want and the car will do it for you - from full steering to changing of gear and from forward to reverse.
“We also have new PRE-SAFE systems now such as cross-traffic assist in which it will randomly search 10,000 images in under a second in order to make a 100 per cent full stop for pedestrians. The car is highly advanced.”
All models are equipped as standard nine-speed automatic transmission and process start from a competitive BD23,000 off-road. The E-300, which is understood to offer a variety of additional optional extras, such as a cock-pit and new integrated media system with 12.3-inch screen, will arrive in the kingdom in early August with a likely starting price of around BD29,000.
