COACHES have praised the skill and dedication of a teenage squad representing VIVA Bahrain who attended a week-long coaching session with Premiership giants Manchester United.

Twenty young players travelled to the UK for the world-class football training experience as part of the VIVA Manchester United Soccer Schools (MUSS) Programme, now in its sixth season.

They trained at MUSS grounds in Partington and The Cliff, under the supervision of UEFA-qualified coaches.

Mick Bennett, head coach at Manchester United Soccer Schools, said: “We were very impressed with the level of football talent received this year which was evident from the rigorous pre-selection of the players.

“They showed a keen desire to learn new skills and techniques with a great aptitude to apply them on the pitch.”

During the week-long training, MUSS coaches worked with VIVA players to enhance individual and teamwork skills including dribbling, shooting and positional play, as well as defending and attacking techniques. Moreover, players were also taught how to conduct themselves on-and-off the pitch and with the team, practice a nutritious diet and fitness routine – all of which will contribute towards them becoming even more competent in matches.

The training concluded with five VIVA players declared as ‘star performers’ of the week, namely Aziz Ben Jemia, Dana Charafeddine, Stan Szecowka, Ammar Abdulnabi and Hamad Hamad.

The VIVA MUSS programme in partnership with Manchester United Football Club has benefitted up to 139 young players living in Bahrain from various cultural backgrounds.
