Volkswagen has a new contender in the ‘keep safe on the roads’ family market as it unveiled the updated Tiguan for the first time in Bahrain at its showroom in Sitra.

The focus is on technology with this model and it stands as one of the most advanced compact SUVs around with numerous innovative features.

These include the 12.3-inch Active Info display: an interactive, fully digital main instrumental panel and a Head-Up Display.

Furthermore, for convenience are features such as Easy Open/Easy Close, which is automatic opening or closing of the tailgate in response to a specific foot movement behind the Tiguan, and power comfort seats with a memory feature.

Great for the shopping run and a touch of luxury highlighted on this page as one of the wonders on a Roller, reported the Editor!

Technology is impressive under the bonnet too, with engines ranging from a 1.4L unit with an output of 150BHP, up to a 2.0L engine with 220BHP and a six and seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox (DSG) with 4MOTION.

The Tiguan is available in five trim levels: S 1.4L, SE 1.4L, SE 2.0L, SEL 2.0L and Sport 2.0L.

The body has been redesigned, with a noticeably streamlined, sharper and more precise structure.

It was launched by Behbehani Brothers during an event that was attended by Volkswagen Middle East manager Boriana Savatova and Volkswagen Bahrain brand manager Felix Miranda, along with customers and members of the media.

Mr Miranda said: “The new Tiguan is a smart SUV, with a sophisticated design and technology, and it is the most affordably innovative compact SUV currently available for drivers in the kingdom.

“This best-selling model is perfectly thought-out, from its sharp new design to the state-of-the-art technology within. The new model is spacious, flexible and appealing to drivers and their families as an ideal companion for their everyday business and personal lives.”

The new Tiguan is available priced from BD10,800. For more details, call 17459977.
