THE Paris Motor Show, which opened at the weekend and runs to October 16, provided the venue for the unveiling of the Ferrari GTC4Lusso T.
It is the first four-seater in Prancing Horse history to sport a V8 turbo engine and is aimed at owners seeking a car that is ‘sporty and versatile’ but also ‘perfect for frequent driving’.
The car’s 3.9-litre V8 turbo is the latest evolution to emerge from the engine family named overall 2016 International Engine of the Year. Its maximum power output is 610 cv at 7,500 rpm while maximum torque of 760 Nm is available at between 3,000 and 5,250 rpm.
Ferrari claims 0-62mph in 3.5seconds (a 10th slower than the V12) and a top speed in excess of 320km/h.
Its designers say its characteristics suit day-to-day driving in urban areas and, although maintaining the Ferrari roar at high speeds, the noise becomes more muted at lower speeds.
Priced at under BD100,000, the GTC4Lusso T’s control systems have been specifically calibrated also to further boost responsiveness to commands. In particular, the rear-wheel steering, which is integrated with side slip control, makes for more rapid response to entering and exiting corners, as the rear wheels are steered in the same direction as the front ones.
