BOOK OF THE WEEK with Robert Jennings. The Sun & The Moon & The Rolling Stones, Rich Cohen
9781472218001 (Paperback) BD7.300 for Gulf Weekly Book Club members
Who doesn’t like the Rolling Stones? They are certainly unwilling to retire and are presently on tour in US.
With the upcoming release of their new album Blue & Lonesome, my book of the week is by Rich Cohen – a journalist who got up close and personal with the band.
Inspired by a lifelong appreciation of the music that borders on obsession, Cohen’s chronicle of the band is informed by the rigorous views of a child who grew up on the music and for whom the Stones will always be the greatest rock ‘n’ roll band of all time.
This is a non-fiction book that reads like a novel filled with the greatest musicians, agents and artists of the most indelible age in pop culture. The perfect gift for any fan of classic rock.

Lemmy – The Definitive Biography, Mick Wall, ISBN 9781409160267 (Paperback) BD7.300 for Gulf Weekly Book Club members
Rock fans around the world mourned the recent passing of Lemmy Kilmister, the lead singer of Motorhead most known for the hit single The Ace of Spades.
On reading this biography I gained the impression that Lemmy was a down to earth individual, who despite his fame was happy to hang out with fans before and after shows like a regular guy.
Based on Mick’s original interviews with Lemmy conducted over numerous years, along with the insights of those who knew him best - former band mates, friends, managers, fellow artists and record business insiders - this is a story of one of Britain’s greatest characters. Did you know he was a roadie and assistant to Jimi Hendrix?

Does the Noise in My Head Bother You?, Steven Tyler 9780007319183 (Hardback) BD9.200 for Gulf Weekly Book Club members
What more can I say, Steven Tyler is just as outrageously entertaining in his book, than perhaps he is on stage.
The Aerosmith lead singer is best known for the hit single Don’t Want to Miss A Thing and in this autobiography he guides you through the rock and roll experience.
One of my favourite books in this genre. The ups-and-the-downs of the music industry, struggles with the bandmates, and, of course, the hazards and pitfalls of touring.
Steven has just released his new Country Rock album called We’re All Somebody from Somewhere and this book is a perfect companion.
