Lonely hearts and folk happy to be unattached in the kingdom need not hide away on the most romantic day of the year …. as one of the kingdom’s five-star hotels is planning to host a special event just for them.
Sofitel Bahrain Zallaq Thalassa Sea & Spa will be staging its first ‘Anti St Valentine’s Day’ event at its Tapas Bar where the single life is being celebrated for a change.
Mehdi Hanayen, the hotel’s director of operations, said: “Being single is not a fatality. St Valentine’s Day may not be the most important day for a couple but people like the concept of it. It’s nicer to be in a couple at the time because there is romance everywhere but being single doesn’t mean it has to be a bad day for you.
It is not the end! “Instead of staying at home and avoiding people, come and enjoy an evening out with your friends. Who knows, you might even find your special one at the Anti-St Valentine’s Day event!” Mehdi staged a similar evening during his time as executive assistant manager at Sofitel Abu Dhabi Corniche.
It was a Flash Lighting Night organised to cater to ‘couples, singles and confused’ individuals. He said: “We used colours from a traffic light to symbolise a person’s status. Red was used for couples and green for singles.
Orange was used for those who were not really sure about their status! Guests liked the idea so much that we decided to organise something similar this year at Sofitel Bahrain.” February 14’s event, from 8pm to 11pm, will feature free selected beverages for single women.
And while the hotel is reaching out to those unattached men and women, couples who want an alternative to a slushy night out can also join in the merriment. More traditional love birds need not fret though, as the seaside resort has romantic plans in store for them at their many restaurants.
