The pairing of Naeem Khan and Rajinder Sachdeva clinched first place in the fourth competition of the Coca-Cola Monday Madness Night Golf Series at the Royal Golf Club, knocking youngsters Ali Al Kowari and Ali Al Hakam off the top spot in the series order of merit.
The duo won with a nett score of 34 while husband and wife Steven and Samantha Hill were runners up with a score of 36.6 nett. Third place went to Rob Hill and club tournament coordinator Adam Dutson with a nett score of 37.2.
Additional prizes were awarded to Naeem Khan and Steven Hill for winning nearest-the-pin in two shots side-contests on holes 10 and 18 respectively. With just two more competitions left in the six week-long series, Khan and Sachdeva move into first place on the leader board with 12 points, with the two young Ali’s just one point behind.
The duo of Rehman Tipu and Atta Ur Rehman lie in third place overall with 9 points while last week’s winners, Jamie Bowen and Jim Lanceley are in fourth place with 7 points. With five points up for grabs by the winners each week the series title could still be anyone’s, leaving everything to play for in the final week.
Around 30 players took part in the Greensomes tournament despite the chilly temperatures and recent rain. The evening was rounded off with a prize presentation ceremony in the club’s Members’ Lounge where Dutson was on hand to present the prizes on behalf of CocaCola.
The Coca-Cola Monday Madness Night Golf Series competitions take place every Monday evening. The 9 hole competitions are open to nonmembers at a cost of BD20 and tee off with a 6.30pm shotgun start.
