Gulf Weekly Owners put their sports cars to the test

MIGHTY McLaren recently held an exclusive prospect day for selected clients to have an engaging one-on-one driving experience, giving them the chance to test the full capabilities of the 570S and 570GT in the controlled environment of the BIC.

More than 30 guests took part in the Kanoo Motors SPC event, titled Sports Series: The Drive, followed by an open track activity for McLaren car owners until midnight.

Kanoo Motors head of McLaren Bahrain, Trevor Fletcher, said: “We aim to elevate the brand’s status in the kingdom to the level it deserves. BIC events such as this one will play a major role in helping us strengthen this reputation and attract new clientele because they allow prospects the chance to experience first-hand the level of McLaren’s performance and craftsmanship with dedicated driving time with qualified McLaren driving instructors.”

The more attainable and multi award-winning Sports Series was conceived to introduce McLaren DNA and performance credentials to the sports car segment.
The 570S, which recently won the 2016 Motor Trend Best Driver’s Car Award and the 2016 Auto Express Performance Car of the Year Award, boasts 562bhp, incorporating a unique body styling, including the Sport Aero Pack with new rear diffuser, front splitter and side skirts, and an even more driver-focused chassis that further increases its appeal, while maintaining its day-to-day usability.

The Sports Series, mixed with Kanoo’s glowing ‘personal touch’ reputation, has added instant pulling power to the marque in the kingdom and comes with a starting price of BD75,000.
“The 570S has broadened the appeal of McLaren to a new customer audience,” Trevor explained. “It has made it more accessible to sports car buyers who can now enter into the ‘super car’ arena. The 570S is both a daily driver and can be taken straight to the track with no modifications whatsoever.”

McLaren 570GT’s carbon-fibre chassis, lightweight aluminium body and twin-turbocharged 3.8-litre V8 engine contribute to an outstanding power-to-weight ratio, and its sleek, contoured nose and panoramic roof adds extra comfort and practicality to breath-taking performance.

The marque is considered by motoring enthusiasts to be ‘the national car of Bahrain’ as the British brand is partly-owned by the kingdom’s investment fund Mumtalakat.
