The Lost Paradise of Dilmun Water Park (LPOD) has launched a summer safety campaign in a bid to help prevent the tragic loss of children’s lives each summer in swimming pools and the sea.
The popular water park, in partnership with Mums In Bahrain, has put together an awareness programme aimed at training parents and childcare providers on first aid and general water safety protection.
Young children are most likely to drown in or near their own home and drowning is the third highest cause of death in children claiming the lives of approximately 4,000 each year and leaving another 12,000 with some form of permanent brain damage. And, every year there are newspaper headlines about summer tragedies in Bahrain.
“It is very disheartening to hear news about summer incidents when, what should be family fun time, turns into tragedy,” said Esmail Ebrahim, LPOD’s operations manager – head of aquatics.”
He added that the team at the attraction wanted to give back to the community as a thank you to the support it receives. “We work day-in-and-day-out to make sure that we provide a safe and secure environment for all our guests to enjoy the waterpark to its fullest.
“We have prepared workshops offering basic knowledge and practical demonstra-tions for emergencies.
“Some of the main factors for parents are to master water safety, prevent heat related illnesses and know how to deal with basic injuries. This is something that I believe every parent and those looking after children should be knowledgeable about.”
Developed by the Al Areen Holding Company, the water park covers an overall area of around 77,000sqm. Each aspect of the park is based on the history of the Dilmun period, reflected by unique stone sculptures and architecture that encompasses the theme. Over 18 slides and attractions are blended seamlessly to create a desert oasis and garden of paradise for guests to enjoy
LPOD and the adjacent five-star Al Areen Palace are the first components in the multi-billion dollar Al Areen Development.
Training sessions are being staged every Saturday morning throughout April. The two-part programme includes a discussion on general summer safety awareness and is followed up by the practical demonstration on basic home first aid training which may come in useful on the beach and around swimming pools.
It costs BD3 for Mums in Bahrain purple card holders & BD5 for others and includes snacks and refreshments. In addition families who want to enjoy the waterpark on the same day receive a 40 per cent discount on entry tickets.
A limited number of places are available per session. To register call 36048648 / 17845100 or email info@lpodwaterpark.com
