GULF-BASED Filipino designer Furne One Amato, who has been featured in America’s Next Top Model and Germany’s Next Top Model TV series, staged a theatrical show to unveil his Spring/Summer 2018 line.

It is a tradition for the Amato brand to close the bi-annual Fashion Forward event in Dubai and trend followers queued to get a glimpse of his 36-piece collection.

The man who has dressed an army of celebrities over the years including Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey, Jennifer Lopez and Shakira, did not disappoint.

The recent fashion show was set in an aquatic-style wonderland combined with rock formations inspired by Stonehenge, the famous prehistoric monument found in England.

Models were dressed in tulle, intricate beadwork and ruffles and transformed into royal modern-day mermaids and mermen clothed in white, gray and neutral toned dresses and jumpsuits, covered in sheer material, plus pearls and intricate embroidery top add a twist.

Clever make-up and accessories also captivated the crowd. Many of the models carried pearl and clam featured clutches to complete the ensemble and add to the nautical theme.

“My shows have always been known to tell a story and this time, the couture story unfolds from one’s dissension to the abyss of the oceans, to the embosoming darkness, defying your fears, and eventually, the emergence of a new, braver, bolder and reigning Amato woman,” the flamboyant designer said.

Amato, which means ‘beloved’ in Italian, was launched in neighbouring UAE in 2002 when Furne partnered with textile expert Rashid Ali to build the label.
