Chipping in

Improving your overall feel and control around the greens is paramount in bettering your scores. The message is simple: ‘accelerate to the ball, and finish low’.

With chipping, pure contact is your number one goal. To improve this, set up to make a downward strike: The ball should be played slightly back in your stance, with your weight set-up a touch to the left, lean the shaft towards the target.

In the backswing keep your wrists firm and accelerate the club-head to the ball. You are not looking to scoop the ball off the turf, instead you want a crisp, downward hit, keeping the club-head low in the finish.
