Whisperer

Chief reporter Mai Al Khatib-Camille was close to tears last Sunday when she had lost her engagement ring after spending her national Bahrain holiday working in the office. The tiny writer had returned home only to realise that it had slipped off her finger. After retracing her steps around the house, she came to the conclusion that it either fell off in the office bathroom or where she was parked earlier that day.

Her hubby, Sam, tried to console her explaining that it happens and that all was going to be ok. The ring was already loose fitting to begin with. He even tried to distract  her with a marathon watching session of Stranger Things but all she could do was dwell on the ring that was near and dear to her heart.

When she arrived at the office the very next day, she scoured the area where she had parked and of course didn’t find it. Just as she thought all was lost, she remembered the bathroom. She rushed in only to find that the garbage was not cleaned out as the cleaners were off for the holiday. Sleeves rolled up, she dug into the trash and there it was…a shiny ring hidden in tissue that she used to wipe her hands with the day before. She jumped for joy, sanitised it and did a celebratory dance as she put it back on her finger. She will definitely be resizing it to make sure that doesn’t happen again….or she might just stuff her face with festive meals for the next few days to pack on the pounds so that the ring doesn’t slip off again. That sounds more likely and more enjoyable.
