Like columnist Ellissa, it is well known that the editor of this publication enjoys a coffee. He will not drink it from a takeaway cup, not because he wants to save the planet, but because it tastes better in a mug.

He was very excited to hear that the most expensive coffee makers in the world are coming to the Gulf region. The ultimate in brewing excellence, Royal coffee makers will soon be available at a starting price of $15,500 (around BD5,800).

Handmade using the finest Baccarat crystal plus silver, copper and 24K gold, each bespoke Royal coffee maker is designed for true connoisseurs who appreciate the intricacies of temperature, flow and contact with boiling water that go into creating the perfect cup of coffee.

Meticulously hand-built by teams of artists, sculptors, metallurgists and engineers, each one is a labour of love. This attention to detail can be seen in the craftsmanship that goes into creating unique features such as the gargoyle, counter weight, oak leaves and finials, each made using the centuries-old ‘cire perdue’ method.

Our Stan would like to point out that it’s his birthday soon. The Whisperer has told him to keep dreaming.
