Organisers say more than 40,000 visitors are expected to attend the inaugural Bahrain Auto Fair at Bahrain Bay.
High winds and dust put a damper on it last weekend so the event has been extended to run until Saturday.
One of the highlights of the fair is a test drive arena so visitors can have an immediate trial of their favourite vehicles after discussing the models with experts from leading international manufacturers.
The fair has been organised by Solidarity Bahrain. Its CEO Qais Ribeah said: “Our aim is to make this event an important platform for all auto manufacturers, customers and auto enthusiasts and we received a significant turnout over the course of the week.”
Marques showcasing their cars include Volvo, who brought along the new XC60 and XC90 SUVs to highlight its suite of technological and safety features.
Hybrid technology is also at the forefront as Toyota is exhibiting its Prius, and Lexus is showcasing the LS500h, GS450h, RX450h and the LC500h as part of its hybrid range.
Motoring enthusiasts also have the opportunity to browse a plethora of sports cars and motorcycles, posing for pictures alongside Lamborghinis, Ferraris and other fast sports models.
Schoolboy Ali Said, 10, achieved his dream of emulating his Moto GP hero Valentino Rossi by being allowed to sit on an MSK Racing superbike. Afterwards, he said: “I loved all of the bikes and cars at the fair! I’ve watched lots of YouTube videos of my favourites, but never seen them in real life before. I hope there’s another event next year so I can come back.”
