THE star of the 2018 Houston Auto Show in the US was out of this world, in more ways than one … and loud enough not to be ignored.
Visitors had to count on several hours to take in the special machines on display throughout the NRG Centre’s massive venue. The vehicles ranged from supercars like those that adorn a Mission Impossible or James Bond blockbuster to superstar collector cars to technology tour de forces.
But for a flight of fancy, the 2018 Nissan Titan AT-M6 concept outshone the lot. It’s one of several vehicles that came about thanks to Nissan’s partnership with Lucasfilm on the latest Star Wars flicks.
Considering the AT-M6 is the largest vehicle in the First Order’s arsenal for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Nissan based its show car with a Nissan Titan, the biggest vehicle in its fleet.
The AT-M6 featured a massive mega-calibre cannon affixed to its back and a custom body-wrap reminiscent of the film’s massive First Order walker.
Wheels received hydro-dip graphics to mimic a walker’s leg joints, while a lift kit promoted its sinister appearance.
Designers also insisted on installing a sound system capable of mimicking the walker’s ground-stomping movements. The solution: an 18-inch bed-mounted subwoofer with a companion surround sound system driven by 5,000 watts.
