With the kingdom’s cost of living rising and prices of fuel and other commodities going up, budget vehicles are being sought after more than ever before. The latest entrant into this segment might just be the Chery on top of an affordable cake.

Motorcity unveiled the 2018 Chery Tiggo 7 at the luxurious Capital Club last week and emphasised that the sporty, youthful SUV was a serious contender in the market by showcasing its plethora of features.

The car comes in three trims; a 2.0 Comfort, a 2.0 Luxury and a 1.5 Luxury. The standard 2.0-litre four-cylinder produces 121BHP and comes with CVT automatic transmission, whilst the 1.5-litre turbo gives a 145BHP output and uses a dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

The dynamic SUV was awarded a China Eco-Car Assessment Programme gold medal evaluation with a high score of 81.31, earning itself first place in Green Certification and footnoting Chery’s commitment to environmental sustainability.

The new Tiggo 7 features a dual-tone interior with a patch of stitched leatherette across the dashboard and onto the inner door handles, matching the leather seats. The nine-inch capacitive touchscreen includes multimedia features, air conditioning settings and vehicle tweaks, while there’s also a 4.8-inch LCD dashboard screen.

Other available features include smart keyless entry and start, dual-zone auto air conditioning, a 360-degree camera and a panoramic roof. The Tiggo 7 received a five-star safety rating in the Chinese NCAP crash tests thanks to additions such as ABS with EBD, ESP, hill-start, tyre-pressure monitor and six airbags.

The 2018 Chery Tiggo 7 is available for the starting price of BD5,800 for the 2.0 Comfort version, or for a monthly instalment of BD84 with zero down payment.
