The seventh annual Inter-Hotel Cricket Tournament started last night with an opening ceremony at The Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain’s staff recreational facilities.
This year’s event will feature 26 teams representing 24 hotels and resorts from around the island with the aim of raising awareness and donations for this year’s beneficiary charity, Alia for Early Intervention.
The centre was set up in 2004 by the Bahrain Society for Children with Behaviour and Communication Disorders.
Last year’s event raised a staggering $10,000 (around BD3,760), and the tournament organisers are hopeful of scoring even more runs and cash with the popular and competitive event. The tournament runs until April 28 with up to five matches being staged daily from 6pm to 9.30pm.
