The Whisperer

Villainous hackers are getting more devious by the day and The Whisperer wonders how they get to know when someone is away.

A British expat husband and wife have taken a late summer vacation back to Europe and friends last week received an email from what appears to be one of their Hotmail accounts requesting help.

The first contact was short: ‘Let me know if you receive my message. I need your urgent assistance’.

Of course, many replied wanting to know what they could do to help. Alarm bells started ringing when the next message highlighted banking issues and requested a quick loan of $1,950 because ‘I need it to clear some little things here and then get a cab to the airport. I promise to return it back once I get back home. Let me know what you can do so I can instruct you on how to get the money sent to me, please don’t let me down’.

It’s surprising how many people step forward just in case it’s a genuine request. Please do not be fooled.
