THE kingdom’s Germanophiles are getting ready to don their lederhosen and enjoy the best of Bavarian culture once again as the annual Oktoberfest rolls into town tomorrow.
The traditional folk, food and frivolities are being staged with all the usual ‘oompah’ at the newly-renovated Gulf Convention Centre at the Gulf Hotel Bahrain.
Original live Bavarian band Lasterbacher Musikanten, a highly sought-after outfit on the festival circuit, has once again been flown in especially to add an authentic air to proceedings.
“This year, will be by far the most exciting one ever staged!” Charbel Hanna, the hotel’s executive assistant manager, promised.
The Oktoberfest buffet is famous for including famous German sausages, better known as wursts, specialty sauerkraut, and lots of hearty roast potatoes.
Oktoberfest has been running at the Gulf Hotel for more than 10 years, and it continues to grow in popularity every year. It has a unique atmosphere and German expatriates, as well as other Europeans and many locals, know how to enjoy themselves.
Visitors are invited to experience a ‘true taste of the nation’. Ingredients have been imported specifically from Germany before the dishes are prepared here by the award-winning team. The traditional food can be accompanied by authentic beverages too.
This one night only festival is priced at BD 26++, the buffet starts from 8pm.
