Sounds of laughter and fun will be echoing across Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) tomorrow at 4pm as Shop Bahrain opens its doors for its annual carnival-style spectacular event.

The 17-day Festival City is yet again set to entertain families and friends from across the region and according to organisers, the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), this year’s bonanza will be bigger and better than ever.

Yousef Al Khan, the director of tourism marketing and promotions of BTEA, said: “The past two years of Festival City has been really popular with people from Bahrain and the GCC and this third edition will surely attract more people with bigger and better rides for all ages.”

The festival, located at the circuit in Sakhir, will be spread over 22,000sqm and will feature 30 restaurants, 10 retail outlets, five big rides, 16 carnival games, an outdoor market and cinema along with more family-oriented activities.

There will be several performances to entertain the crowds such as a show by the Smurfs and concerts by Bahraini acts including Mo Zowayed, Banah and the Bahraini Drummers.

Careem taxi services will also be offering special pick-up and drop off deals for the festival and there will be valet parking as well.

The event details were unveiled to the media at a press conference held earlier in the week at the Bahrain International Exhibition & Convention Centre.

This year’s festival runs daily from 4pm to 10pm, Sunday to Wednesday and until 11pm on weekends.

It is staged in cooperation with strategic partners including Tamkeen, VIVA Bahrain and Gulf Air, as well as the A.A. Bin Hindi Group.

The platinum partners include Bin Hindi Informatics and Lulu Group, while prize partners include Gravity, Adhari, Awal Gas, Hawar Beach Hotel, Kitchen for Life Company, the Ice Cream Shop and Rahim Holdings. Top prizes include 11 cars and more than 73,000 items including electronics, discounted airline tickets plus thousands of smaller instant prizes.
