Gulf Weekly World record set at meet

Rob Harper set a new world record in a rip-roaring third round of the 2018/2019 Bahrain Drag Racing Championship, held last week at Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) in Sakhir.

Competing in the Outlaw 6-Cylinder category, the American posted a time of 6.582 seconds during qualifying to reset the World mark for fastest GT-R. Harper set the new standard with an ultra-quick pass down the quarter-mile at a top speed of 373.82kph.

Harper, a member of Alpha Logic Performance team from the UAE, was one of a total 152 participants from all over the globe who took part in the meeting, which featured intense battles over 15 categories for both cars and motorbikes.

Unfortunately for Harper, his new record could not translate into a victory the following evening on Race Day. Jassim Ali Al Ali claim that honour by winning the Outlaw 6-Cylinder final.

Another big winner was Hani Hussain, who enjoyed a fantastic double with wins in the Pro Mod and Index 8.5 classes.

Amongst the bikers, Jehad Aljamal beat Waleed Albadeen in the final.

Bader bin Eidan triumphed in the Street Bikes class defeating Mousa Al Buloshi.

Mishari Al Turki was first amongst those in the Super Street Bikes. He beat Mothana Abu Thiab.

Action returns to BIC for round four on February 19 to 23. The season finale will be held from February 26 to March 2.
