One of the kingdom’s most iconic companies, renowned for bringing fresh drinking water to a parched desert land, is celebrating its 35th anniversary and is preparing to unleash a smartphone app, which will make ordering water a breeze, and build a state-of-the-art new factory.
In 1984, Aqua Cool, part of Jalal Ionics and the wider Mohammed Jalal & Sons company, began providing specialised water treatment solutions focused primarily on supplying Electrodialysis Refersal (EDR) followed by Reverse Osmosis (RO) water treatment technology.
However, it shortly began quenching the thirsts of thousands of parched Bahrainis and expats by branching out to pure drinking water and crystal clear ice cubes.
Aqua Cool quickly became a household name, with the five-gallon drinking water bottles becoming staples of both residential and commercial properties.
Raimond Fontaine, the general manager of Jalal Ionics, said: “Aqua Cool has experienced exceptional growth and development over the past years. Moving forward, our focus will remain on offering high quality Ultra-Pure Bottled Drinking Water and providing an excellent service delivery with a smile to our customers.”
During an event held at the Crowne Plaza Bahrain Conference Centre, company executives and workers celebrated the milestone with a cake-cutting ceremony, prize-giving and a raffle.
There was a retrospective of the brand’s corporate responsibility initiatives displayed on a giant projector screen, in particular the sponsorship of numerous Think Pink breast cancer awareness events, including pink-themed bottles.
Chairman of Aqua Cool, Sami Jalal, said: “We are very happy to celebrate this milestone and we have an excellent team who have dedicated their efforts and life to make this a leading brand in Bahrain.
“It’s a home-grown brand started in Bahrain, and despite fierce competition we are coming on strongly and working towards a strong future.
“We’re going to move to a new factory in the next couple of years and will introduce new technology for the machinery and equipment. There are exciting times ahead.”
Further to the celebrations, Aqua Cool announced that it has become the first water company in the kingdom to launch its own Smartphone Online Ordering Application, and it is available to download now on Andorid and iOS platforms.
Raimond explained: “It is a much faster alternative to know more about our line of products and may even be faster than calling to make an order because it only takes a second to launch a mobile app. The majority of the product information a customer requires is available via the application, and we will deliver to your house.”
