MUM was definitely the word when fans of a sparkly jewellery brand gathered together for a special private afternoon tea in honour of Mother’s Day.

The event was hosted by luxury retail group Al Hawaj to highlight the new Swarovski collection, described by its designers as a ‘brilliant expression of the radiant bond between a mother and a child’.

Swarovski’s creative director Nathalie Colin said: “At Swarovski, we believe in brilliance for all, that’s why our Mother’s Day Collection isn’t just about celebrating the woman who raised you, it celebrates all mother figures: mothers, grandmothers, stepmothers, mother-in-laws, friends, and everything they do for us.

“The collection is as bright, beautiful, brilliant and multifaceted as the women we know and love.”

From minimalist styles to intricately detailed designs, the Mother’s Day Collection relies on clean lines, sculptural sun-inspired silhouettes and sophisticated palette of white, blue and yellow that bring shine to everyday looks.

The standout pieces are from the Sunshine, Originally and North lines that aim to make brilliantly thoughtful gifts to give or to receive.

Sara Barakat, Swarovski’s PR & communications manager, flew over from Dubai to join Al Hawaj executives and invited guests to the afternoon tea served at Pool Delight in Reef Resort. “Every child knows, including me, that our mother is the sunshine of our lives and the centre of our universe!” she said.

The Sunshine collection features dainty sunburst silhouettes coupled with striking tapered baguette Swarovski crystals. The versatile line features stackable ring sets, oversized studs and a large pendant that can be worn at different lengths, while polished rose-gold and silver tones lend a refined touch of sparkle to any occasion.

The pearl receives a refresh and is translated into super-feminine pieces that aim to stand the test of time. Swarovski pearls, enwrapped in glittering crystals, make the Originally line relevant for both casual and evening looks.

The bright white and light blue elements of the refined North line appear to float effortlessly and playfully against a unique iteration of sleek lines in on-trend rose-gold and silver metal tones to deliver designs that can be worn alone or layered on for an added dose of glamour.

And, put a special bond into words with new styles and meaningful motifs that bring even more brilliance to the versatile Swarovski Remix Collection such as the boy and girl charms embellished with beautiful Swarovski crystal pearls.

“From easy-chic and super-feminine designs to dressier statement silhouettes, Swarovski offers everything you need to make her shine with jewellery she will love to receive and wear for this Mother’s Day and beyond,” added Sara, right, who presented the pieces.

Also present at the launch were prominent influencers, dignitaries, other executives from the management team of Swarovski Middle East and the media who were welcomed by Al Hawaj MD Jawad Al Hawaj, and GM Abdul Wahab Al Hawaj.

Al Hawaj aims to spread a message of appreciation to mothers across the kingdom with its annual ‘I Love My Mum’ campaign, as highlighted in last week’s GulfWeekly.

This is the luxury retail group’s seventh year of hosting the popular promotion. Abdul said: “Many people talk about this campaign and value it because they say it gives them a chance to share their appreciation for their mums. Mothers deserve all the love in the world.”

Customers are invited to submit entries in the form of a ‘love message’ to their mothers after purchasing gift items, such as perfumes, make-up, watches, fashion accessories, or leather bags.

Ten moving messages will be handpicked by a six-strong jury and they will receive a special perfume bouquet from Al Hawaj. The top three chosen will also receive cash prizes, sponsored by CrediMax, with first place taking home $1,500, second receiving $1,000 and third picking up $500.

The competition runs until tomorrow, Mother’s Day in Bahrain, and the winners will be announced on Sunday at a glitzy event at the Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay, under the patronage of Labour and Social Development Minister Jameel Humaidan.
