Deina Moretti, personal trainer from Bahrain Rugby Football Club, met with Michelle Bailey, co-founder of Feed the Need, to donate the proceeds of his fundraising efforts in the lead up to Fight Night 6 to the charity.

As the GulfWeekly previously reported, Deina entered the ring for Fight Night 6, a charity white collar boxing event held at the Crowne Plaza Bahrain.

In the ring, Deina, taking a stray punch from his opponent emerged with a scarlet nose. Out of the ring, he has been working hard to raise money for the charity that has refrigerators all over the country stocked with food where the needy can show up and pick up a meal.

Deina said: “I had talked to a few of my friends and when I learned about Feed the Need, I was compelled to donate the money raised to them. The club has been very supportive of my efforts; they even ran a raffle for the month of May so I could fundraise for this worthy cause.”

He managed to raise nearly BD850 through his own efforts and the number was topped up by the Bahrain Rugby Football Club, bringing the total contribution to BD1,050.

The money raised will go towards stocking Feed the Need’s refrigerators with 1,500 meals, prepared and supplied by Showpiece restaurant in Hidd, which has been involved with the charity over the past six years.

Michelle added: “We are ever so grateful for Deina’s efforts and appreciate all contributions. We also appreciate all those who have contributed to his efforts, whether monetarily or in spirit.”

Low-wage expat workers are the primary users of the charity’s efforts and they accept toys, books, clothes, furniture and more, helping these items find new homes with those who need them the most.
