The spotlight falls on Paris this Thursday as design experts from around the world will be showcasing their latest trends, concepts and collections in the City of Love.

The 10-day Paris Design Week, which will run until September 14, will feature more than 300 participants proudly promoting their designs while the leading talents in the discipline gather in the LE OFF exhibition.

Professionals from galleries, showrooms, hotels and retailers will also be present to share their experiences in design and creation.

The event will boast late night openings, debates and installations that echo the new releases for autumn as well as promenades designed to captivate visitors. For example, some of the themes offered include Art & Design, Hybrid and Upcycling.

Upcycling uses design to prove that materials deserve a second lease of life. Paris Design Week has created contests and exhibitions using this theme due to environmental concerns. One such contest is Design Zéro Déchet organised by Syctom, a key stakeholder in the waste treatment sector in Ile-de-France, which showcases a wide range of solutions for reducing waste and recycling more effectively.

Guiltless Plastic, a project by Milanese gallerist Rossana Orlandi, sees the first edition of the Ro Plastic Prize 2019 with unique pieces created from recycled plastic by some of the world’s most famous designers.

According to organisers, the “Matter Matters…” exhibition by ENSCI – Les Ateliers is also one that shouldn’t be missed as well as The NÛR GALLERY PARIS featuring a collection of hand-painted and embroidered pieces.

Other themes that many design aficionados will enjoy include Iconic Design, Food Design and Fashion & Fragrance.
