Czech car manufacturer ŠKODA launched their Bahrain operations last week in collaboration with regional automotive market leader Behbehani Brothers, unveiling four models at their new Sitra showroom.

Officially inaugurated under the patronage of Kai Boeckmann, the German Ambassador to Bahrain along with directors Abdul Majeed Shirazi, Abdul Ghani Behbehani and the Group General Manager Steven Hill, the ceremony celebrated the 125-year history of the Czech badge and the 12th famous brand under the Behbehani banner.

Felix Miranda, the general manager overseeing the ŠKODA and Volkswagen brands locally, said: “We are happy to have ŠKODA’s over 120 years of vehicle history become affiliated with the Behbehani brand. ŠKODA’s cars are technology-driven and we look forward to offering this excellent badge to customers in Bahrain.”

ŠKODA started in 1894, after local bookseller 26-year-old Václav Klement was unable to get spare parts for his German bicycle because he did not speak German. After becoming an established bicycle manufacturer, he went into business with Václav Laurin in 1896 in Mladá Boleslav, the company’s headquarters to this day. Today, it is one of the five oldest companies with an unbroken history producing cars and sold 1.25 million units in 2018 across 100 countries globally as a wholly owned subsidiary of Volkswagen Group.

Behbehani director Abbas Shirazi commented: “It is a very special day in the history of Behbehani Brothers Bahrain, inaugurating the ŠKODA Showroom and its 12th Brand “ŠKODA” under its flagship. Today, a 62-year-old company Behbehani Brothers Bahrain has partnered with a brand that has a heritage of 125 years. ŠKODA is driven by desire and Behbehani is driven by perfection and today desire meets perfection.”
