Animated adventure comedy film The Mario Galaxy Movie is out now in theatres.

It follows brothers Mario and Luigi as they embark on an adventure into outer space and across the galaxy, accompanied by Yoshi, Princess Peach and Toad.

There, they meet Rosalina, watcher of the cosmos, and find themselves in a face-off against Bowser and his son Bowser Jr.

Voice actors of The Super Mario Bros Movie (2023) make a return, including Chris Pratt bringing alive Mario, Charlie Cox as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser and Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach.

They are joined by Captain Marvel (2019) star Brie Larson, who voices Rosalina.

Released on the Nintendo Wii console, Super Mario Galaxy is a 2007 platform game where the player enables Mario to rescue Princess Peach and recover the stolen Power Stars from Bowser.

It was met with critical acclaim for its graphics, gravity mechanics, level design, soundtrack, setting, and story, and was the ninth best selling Wii game.

In 2010, the sequel Super Mario Galaxy 2 was launched, which was equally successful.

In a YouTube video she published in 2020, Brie opened up about her love for video games and the Mario franchise.

“I threw my first boyfriend out of my house because I was trying to beat the final level in Super Mario Galaxy and he said that I was taking it too seriously,” she recounted.

In a recent interview, she shared her excitement for being a part of a universe that she genuinely cares for, describing the new film as a sensory overload of everything she loved and played throughout her life.

“You have all of these incredible planets in the game that you travel to that you will get to see in the movie as well, which made me so proud because I know every detail of this game. To see the way that they honoured each part of it while also honouring all of these character stories and this larger vision for it, there’s nothing in this that doesn’t have a purpose and meaning,” she added.
