Sports and fitness enthusiasts have an opportunity to be trained by an Olympian this weekend at The Ritz-Carlton Bahrain’s newly renovated Royal Beach Club and Spa.

Luc Choley, three-time Olympian who represented France in sailing in Moscow, Los Angeles and Seoul, is headed to Bahrain to lead three two-day retreats incorporating his ground-breaking Olympic Fitness programme.

For the past 25 years, international and Olympic athletes in US football, track and field, rowing, Nordic skiing, boxing, tennis and swimming have followed his methods achieving unparalleled success.

Luc said: “I created the Olympic Fitness and Ocean therapy programme, mixing weight lifting, track and field, Judo, swimming and Nordic skiing. I will be teaching some of the strategies I used to prepare myself to become a sailing Olympian and now one of the best coaches in the World after winning (United States of) America’s cup six times as a coach.”

Whilst skiing, aged 22, Luc was involved in a serious accident. A helicopter found him in a crevasse after 23 hours. His prognosis was that he would spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair. During that time, Luc would visit the track and began to activate his ‘inner dream key’.

Within a year, he was able to run again and took part in a workshop for the French Olympic 400m Team in track and field. Weeks later, Luc returned to sailing winning the European Cup and representing France at the Olympics.

These experiences gave him the determination to win, push him to open himself to help people to wake up, follow their dreams to transform their body health and destiny to their own goals.

Luc added: “The purpose of this boat training is to be extremely fit, simultaneously developing cardio and strength while also being able to adapt to all clients, regardless of age with their own specific goals, from losing weight to being fit enough to win the Olympic Games.

“I have also been training with kundalini yoga to develop my ability to strengthen my mind, and I have been teaching it for 30 years now. This will also be part of the two-day experience.”

The retreat includes intensive full-body cardio group sessions, vitalising water workouts, Olympic swimming training, kundalini yoga and meditation sessions as well as a private session with Luc, to get specific advice regarding one’s own fitness goals and programme.

Short breaks for healthy snacks, as well as a nutritious breakfast and lunch are part of the two-day programme which is flexible to all, regardless of their fitness state or goals.

Luc’s training session is part of the recently renovated Royal Beach Club’s 2020 agenda of activities that will bring many unique opportunities for guests and members to get fit, complemented by the in-house team of trainers who will help them continue their fitness journey.

Jeremy Canivet, director of sales and marketing at Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain added: “We have an excellent team of fitness instructors at the Royal Beach Club who are well-trained and are capable of guiding our guests and members through their wellness journey beyond the Olympic Retreat.

“Keeping true to our promise of providing exceptional wellness activities for our guests and Royal Beach Club members, we have a myriad of activities in the pipeline that we will announce as soon as we have more details, so stay tuned.”

The Ritz-Carlton Bahrain is offering three two-day retreats – the first on Friday and Saturday (March 13 and 14), the second on Sunday and Monday (March 15 and 16) and the final one on Tuesday and Wednesday (March 17 and 18).

Priced at BD250 for Royal Beach Club and Spa members and BD300 for guests, each retreat is offered as part of a package, including a two-day fitness program, healthy breakfast and lunch, one night’s stay at the hotel and a 45-minute massage.
