As the world’s racing calendar was put on hold due to the pandemic, Esports racing enjoyed exponential growth and continues to thrive even as real-life racing has resumed, writes Mai Al Khatib-Camille.

Motoring enthusiasts that dream of one day competing against the likes of motorsport stars, such as Lewis Hamilton, are turning their homes into race tracks.

One classy and expensive aid is the AMR-C01 Racing Simulator available at around BD30,000.

The simulator, which was created by British companies Aston Martin and Curv Racing Simulators technology, aims to help aspiring racers get a feel for the intense sport before jumping into the virtual competitive world. It also assists professional drivers stay sharp before any competition.

The AMR-C01 boasts a lightweight carbon fibre monocoque, utilises the latest technology to provide a fully immersive driving experience and its seating position mirrors that of the Aston Martin Valkyrie.

There are 150 simulators available and first deliveries are scheduled to take place in the last quarter of this year.
