The American School of Bahrain (ASB) welcomed representatives from the US Embassy in Bahrain for their first tour with students present since the opening of the school’s new campus, as part of Discover America Week 2020.

The school’s founding director Dave McMaster highlighted the school’s 17-acre state of the art campus, international size football pitch as well as the a number of technology-enabled classrooms to Margaret Nardi, chargé d’affaires at the embassy.

“The ASB is a great addition to the learning options in Bahrain offering a solid American education model and curriculum in the kingdom,” Margaret said during the tour.

“We appreciate the preparation work that the school’s leadership team has put into putting effective measures in place, considering the difficult time during which they are opening.”

School principal Steve Bodnar and early childhood lead teacher Sandra Al-Ajmi joined the tour and discussed its 21st century learning model blending in-class and digital education.

The school’s founding leadership team, aided by 24 teachers from 11 countries, have started the year with a 130-strong cohort of kindergarten to grade nine students.

“We were honoured to host Chargé d’Affaires Margaret Nardi at American School of Bahrain,” Dave said.

“Staff and students were excited to be part of Discover America Week 2020 and it was a pleasure to show Chargé Nardi our campus and have her experience the incredible sense of warmth at the school.

“We look forward to future opportunities involving the American and international community of Bahrain and the leadership and experience of the US Embassy.”
