Start-ups and educators in the kingdom are being invited to take part in two unique challenges in the lead up to Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) and connect with other entrepreneurs and teachers around the world, writes Naman Arora.
The Global Barter Challenge is an initiative that kicked off last night and will run until the last week of November, giving innovators a platform to exchange skill sets, services, best practices and ideas with one caveat – no money changes hands.
Dr Susan Amat, an executive director for Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN), said: “The GEN Accelerates Platform includes infrastructure to promote connections between entrepreneurs and facilitate bartering activity that transcends borders and is accessible to all participants.
“In the spirit of embodying what it means to be global citizens, we are encouraging entrepreneurs everywhere to be a part of this ground-breaking initiative.
“While you explore the cornucopia of bartering opportunities available within the GEN Accelerates Platform participate in open discussions or discover past workshops that can help you scale up your business.”
Participants are able to search the database by a key word in order to find their ideal match.
This curated marketplace features entrepreneurs from across the globe all committed to removing barriers and welcoming partnerships. An estimated 250,000 entrepreneurs from around the world are expected to log into the network and exchange skills and expertise.
For educators, GEW also includes the Valuation Creation Challenge. Teachers can register at https://bit.ly/GEWEducation and gain access to a structured training module covering entrepreneurship topics including marketing, product management, operations, and strategy.
This module includes a step-by-step guide and lesson plan template, covering instruction, student deliverables and student engagement management.
Entrepreneurs and educators only need access to a laptop and internet connection to participate in these two challenges and help amplify Bahrain’s start-up ecosystem, while developing a global mind-set to solve problems.
GEW is a collection of tens of thousands of activities, competitions and events in more than 170 countries aimed at making it easier for anyone, anywhere to start and scale a company.
It aims to reach beyond traditional start-up hubs like Silicon Valley, New York and Boston - envisioning one entrepreneurial ecosystem open to all, including smaller start-up hubs like Bahrain.
