An array of paintings, mixed media and digital art prints from acclaimed and aspiring Bahraini artists are on show in celebration of Bahrain’s 49th National Day, writes Mai Al Khatib-Camille.
The EDITION Pop-Up gallery, curated by art consultant Frances Stafford at Al Aali Shopping Complex, features artwork from well-known Abbas Yousif, multi-disciplinary visual artist Mohammed Alaabar, better known as Leon D, and artist and curator Yasmin Sharabi.
Other artists involved include porcelain artist Huda Al Saie, acrylic and oil painter Noor Al Sairafi, calligrapher, cartoonist and painter Ali Al Bazzaz, painter Mohammed Al Abbasi, artist Reem Al Dossary, visual artist Fawaz Al Olaiwat and expressionist artist Mohamed Taqi.
According to Frances, local talent needs to be celebrated and supported financially and these artworks will make for excellent Christmas gifts.
The showcase, which was launched during National Day Celebrations, has been extended to tomorrow - from 2pm to 9pm.
The exhibition boasts a range of coveted pieces from the painters as well as mono prints, which are one-of-a-kind oil handprints, and linocut prints.
