Young, record-breaking yogini Thanushri Pithtody is set to achieve her next milestone in Bahrain, as she competes for a spot in the latest Golden Book of World Records, tomorrow, October 24.

The 16-year-old Indian national from Udupi, Karnataka, will attempt to break her 2023 record, when she demonstrated 245 yoga asanas or postures in 45 minutes, at the auditorium in Kannada Sangha Bahrain, Manama. She is aiming for 300 asanas within one hour.

The session, which begins at 10am, will be officiated and judged by Golden Book of World Records Asia head Dr Manish Vaishnoi.

Thanushri’s yoga journey began at the young age of three and she has since come a long way, with two Guinness World Records (2018 and 2020) and seven Golden Book of World Records, among other accolades.

“Bahrain marks my first international visit to spread awareness about yoga and its transformative power,” Thanushri told GulfWeekly.

“I see the kingdom as a nation that values culture, wellness, and diversity, which makes it the perfect platform to connect with people from different parts of the world,” she added.

The event, staged by Kannada Sangha Bahrain, in collaboration with the Bahrain Yoga Community, will feature a number of notable attendees including Bahrain Yoga Committee president Fatima Al Mansoori as the chief guest.

The organisers highlighted that the event is open to the public and aims to promote yoga, wellness, and cultural unity. It also underpins Bahrain’s continued support for global achievements and the Indian community’s contributions to health and holistic living.
