Supernatural horror film Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is out now in theatres.

Based on the namesake video game series, the new instalment serves as a sequel to the 2023 adaptation.

The first film followed troubled security guard Mike Schmidt (Josh Hutcherson), who took a job at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza – only to discover its animatronic mascots were possessed by the souls of murdered children, victims of a decades-old serial killer.

The sequel picks up one year after the terrifying events at the abandoned pizzeria.

Mike, now a former security guard, has kept the horrifying truth from his 11-year-old sister Abby (Piper Rubio).

Unaware of the danger, Abby has formed a bond with the animatronics. When she sneaks out to reconnect with Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy, she triggers a chilling chain of events that unearths dark secrets about Freddy’s true origin.

In a recent interview, Josh revealed that the new film raises the stakes.

“I was excited to come back, no matter what, because I think it’s really fun to make these movies. And the world of Freddy’s is weird and cool and scary,” he said.

“But, I definitely was hoping it was going to be scarier than the first one, and it was mission accomplished. It’s much scarier. It rides that line of being PG-13, but it’s pretty scary,” he added.

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is directed by acclaimed filmmaker Emma Tammi and produced by Jason Blum and Scott Cawthon.
